PM Modi gifts sandalwood Sitar to French President

PM Modi on his visit to France presented gifts to French President Emmanuel Macron, the French President’s spouse, the Prime Minister of France, the President of the French Senate and the President of the French National Assembly.

He presented a sandalwood sitar to French President. Pure sandalwood has been used to create this unique replica of the musical instrument. The magnificent art of sandalwood carving, an ancient craft has been used in Southern India for ages. This decorative piece carries an image of Mother Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom and learning and also the image of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.

The President’s spouse, Brigitte Macron was gifted a Pochampally Ikat in a garnishing sandalwood box. This piece of art is renowned for its intricate designs and vibrant colors. The Pochampally silk ikat saree summarizes the beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage of India.

Prime Minister of France, Elisabeth Borne was presented with a Marble Inlay Work Table, one of the most beautiful pieces of art created using semi-precious stone on marble.

Gerard Larcher, the President of French Senate was presented a sandalwood Hand Carved Elephant Ambavari, in which the decorative elephant figure is made up of pure sandalwood. These stunning sculpture crafted from aromatic sandalwood represent the beauty and majesty of these majestic creatures. These exquisitely crafted sculptures serve as a reminder of harmony between nature, culture and art.

Yael Braun -Pivet, the President of the French National Assembly was gifted a hand-knitted Silk Kashmiri Carpet, known for their softness and craftsmanship all over the world. The colors of the Silk Kashmiri Carpet and its intricate knotted details differentiate it from any other carpet.
