With Chandrayaan-3 India made history by becoming the first nation to successfully deploy a lander on the previously unexplored lunar South Pole, marking a significant achievement. Despite being physically present in South Africa for the 15th BRICS Summit, PM Modi virtually observed the final stages of the lunar lander ‘Vikram’s’ touchdown. Subsequently, he met the scientists responsible for this pioneering lunar project at ISRO’s Telemetry Tracking and Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru.

ISRO Chairman S Somanath personally greeted Prime Minister Modi, who congratulated and embraced him for the triumphant culmination of the ambitious lunar landing mission. A group photo was taken to commemorate the event. During the meeting, S Somanath briefed PM Modi about ISRO’s 40-day journey to the lunar South Pole and the dedicated efforts invested in the mission.

Prior to meeting with ISRO scientists, PM Modi enthusiastically raised the slogan ‘Jai Vigyan Jai Anusandhan’ and extended greetings to the crowd gathered outside the HAL airport upon his arrival in Bengaluru. Expressing his sentiment, PM Modi stated, “Although I was out of the country, I felt compelled to visit Bengaluru first and meet our scientists immediately after returning to India.”

Following a 40-day space expedition, the Chandrayaan-3 lander successfully touched down on the uncharted lunar South Pole, cementing India’s status as the fourth country to achieve this feat after the United States, Russia, and China. Global leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin, US Vice President Kamala Harris, and Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as ‘Prachanda,’ conveyed their congratulations and well wishes as India accomplished this remarkable lunar landing.
