Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MG Ramachandran (MGR), lauding him as a “true leader” who eschewed dynasty politics, during a rally in Tiruppur district.

Emphasizing Tamil Nadu’s significance in shaping India’s trajectory, PM Modi extolled MGR’s commitment to governance devoid of familial succession, contrasting it with the alleged dynastic practices of contemporary political parties.

“MGR did not practice dynasty politics. He broke tradition and established a legacy of good governance. His dedication to quality education and healthcare earned him immense respect, especially from women,” PM Modi remarked.

PM Modi condemned the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for allegedly deviating from MGR’s ideals, labeling their approach as an affront to his legacy. He also praised former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for her contributions to Tamil Nadu’s progress.

Expressing his emotional connection with Tamil Nadu, PM Modi highlighted his efforts to promote Tamil language and culture, including organizing the Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi and installing the ‘Sengol’ symbolizing Tamil heritage in Parliament.

Reflecting on his political journey, PM Modi recalled the Ekta Yatra’s commencement from Kanyakumari in 1991 and its subsequent objectives, including the successful abrogation of Article 370.

Urging BJP workers to serve the people of Tamil Nadu diligently, PM Modi reiterated his commitment to the state’s development and emphasized Tamil Nadu’s pivotal role in shaping India’s future political landscape.

PM Modi’s visit to Tamil Nadu and Kerala underscores the BJP’s efforts to strengthen its presence in southern states ahead of the upcoming elections, signaling the party’s determination to engage with diverse regional dynamics.
