PM Modi In Wayanad, Will Visit Landslide Hit Areas That Killed 226 Lives

Under tight security, Prime Minister Modi is traveling by road to Chooralmala, the village severely impacted by the tragedy. The journey from Kalpetta to Chooralmala spans 24 kilometers. There is considerable anticipation that PM Modi may announce the Wayanad landslides as a national disaster.

Following an aerial survey of Chooralmala, Mundakkai, and Punchirimattom villages, PM Modi has arrived in Kalpetta. He is joined by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, and Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has landed at Kannur airport and will conduct an aerial inspection of the landslide-affected regions in Wayanad. He will assess the ongoing relief and rehabilitation work and visit a hospital where the injured are receiving treatment.

PM Modi visits Wayanad by helicopter and conduct an aerial survey of landslide-struck areas. Rescue operation teams will brief him regarding their efforts and PM Modi will later chair a review meeting.

The landslides, which occurred on July 30, have claimed 226 lives in the hilly district. PM Modi’s visit follows calls from the Opposition to declare the Wayanad landslides a national disaster and to enhance compensation for the victims of this tragic event.
