PM Modi Pays Homage at Gujarat’s Dwarkadhish Temple

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the revered Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat on Sunday morning to offer prayers, underscoring its significance as a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site. Situated at the confluence of the Gomti River and the Arabian Sea, the temple holds immense importance for Vaishnavites, especially devotees of Lord Krishna, as one of the Char Dhams.

Lord Krishna, known as Dwarkadhish or the King of Dwarka, is the primary deity of the temple. During his visit, the Prime Minister was honored with an idol of Lord Krishna by the temple priests.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi inaugurated the Sudarshan Setu, the nation’s longest cable-stayed bridge spanning approximately 2.32 km. This bridge connects the Okha mainland with Beyt Dwarka in Gujarat. In a social media post, PM Modi expressed his delight in inaugurating the Sudarshan Setu, emphasizing its role in connecting people and fostering development.

Formerly known as the ‘Signature Bridge,’ the structure has been renamed ‘Sudarshan Setu.’ Beyt Dwarka, an island near the Okha port, situated roughly 30 km from Dwarka town, is home to the renowned Dwarkadhish temple.

The Sudarshan Setu, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 979 crore, boasts a four-lane road, 27.20 meters in width, with 2.50-meter wide footpaths on either side. It stands as India’s longest cable-stayed bridge, bridging the gap between the Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka island.

Additionally, PM Modi offered prayers at the Beyt Dwarka Temple during his visit. His trip to Gujarat commenced with a grand roadshow in Jamnagar on Saturday, accompanied by chants of ‘Modi, Modi’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ from enthusiastic crowds lining the streets.

During his two-day visit, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects valued at Rs 48,000 crore across various sectors, including healthcare, infrastructure, energy, and transportation. Among these projects is the unveiling of Gujarat’s first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot, alongside the virtual inauguration of four other AIIMS facilities located in different parts of the country.
