On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed a series of development projects in Madhya Pradesh, a state preparing for upcoming elections. These projects, totalling around Rs 12,600 crore, encompass various sectors such as infrastructure, transportation, energy, housing, and clean water. During his address, Prime Minister Modi criticized the Congress party, accusing them of corruption in government programs during their rule.
In a veiled reference to the Congress-led UPA government, he remarked on the numerous corruption scandals that had made headlines in that era. Prime Minister Modi emphasized that his government had undertaken a “Swacchta” campaign to root out corrupt practices since coming to power in 2014. He highlighted the removal of eleven crore fake beneficiaries from government lists through technology, ensuring that funds intended for the poor would not be misappropriated.
The Prime Minister credited the combination of Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar, and mobile phones for eliminating corruption, stating that over Rs 2.5 lakh crore had been saved from falling into the wrong hands as a result. He emphasized the importance of continued development in Madhya Pradesh, underlining the state’s achievements in agriculture and industrial growth.
Prime Minister Modi also noted India’s significant increase in defense exports, with Jabalpur playing a crucial role in this success. He highlighted the supply of ‘Made in India’ weaponry to the defense forces and the growing global demand for Indian defense products, which would generate numerous employment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.
Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes on the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Durgavati to the tribal community, the people of Madhya Pradesh, and all 140 crore citizens of India. He emphasized that the unveiled projects would improve the lives of thousands, particularly farmers and young people who would find job opportunities with the development of new industries in the region.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi praised India’s outstanding performance at the ongoing Asian Games and the motivation it provides to the youth to contribute to the nation’s development. He discussed India’s achievements, such as hosting the G-20 summit and the success of the Chandrayaan mission.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the surge in the popularity of Khadi products, symbolizing the resurgence of Swadeshi sentiment and the country’s progress. He encouraged the youth to participate in startups actively and highlighted the success of the cleanliness campaign, in which Madhya Pradesh played a prominent role.
Prime Minister Modi criticized certain political parties for their “India-bashing approach,” particularly at a time when India’s accomplishments were being recognized globally. He accused them of questioning initiatives like Digital India and India’s COVID-19 vaccine and even doubting the Indian Army’s credibility. He also mentioned criticism of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
Prime Minister Modi pointed out his government’s commitment to social harmony and heritage, citing the designation of places associated with Dr. BR Ambedkar as “panchteerth.” He highlighted the expansion of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) program for forest produce, benefiting the underprivileged.
Additionally, he discussed the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam and the PM Vishwakarma scheme. Madhya Pradesh, along with four other states, is gearing up for assembly polls later this year.
