On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting to discuss the impending Meghalaya and Nagaland Assembly elections.
JP Nadda, national president of the BJP, presided over the meeting at the party’s headquarters in Delhi.

The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and all members of the Central Election Committee. In Meghalaya, the BJP will contest all seats alone this time, whereas in Nagaland, the party will campaign in collaboration with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP). In Nagaland, the BJP will run for 20 of the 60 available seats.

On February 27, Nagaland and Meghalaya will hold Assembly elections in a single phase. The results will be announced on March 2nd. The mandates of Nagaland and Meghalaya will expire on March 12 and 15, respectively, according to the Election Commission of India.

Earlier on January 27, the BJP conducted a CEC meeting in New Delhi to select the lists of candidates for the upcoming Tripura Assembly elections. Following the conference, the BJP released its initial list of 48 candidates for the Tripura Assembly elections, including Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik of Dhanpur.
Six of the party’s incumbent MLAs have been denied tickets to the upcoming Tripura elections.

Manik Saha, the Chief Minister, will run in the 2018 state assembly elections from the Town Bordowali constituency. Party leaders Anil Baluni and Sambit Patra introduced the BJP’s Tripura assembly candidates at a news conference at the party headquarters here on Saturday.

For the first time, 11 women were given seats in the state assembly election. Tripura will hold Assembly elections on February 16. Votes in Nagaland and Meghalaya will be counted on March 2.
