PM Modi is set to participate in the three-day annual All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur on January 6-7, as confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office. The conference will extensively discuss challenges related to artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, and narcotics smuggling.
Scheduled from January 5 to 7, the conference will cover a broad spectrum of policing and internal security issues, including cybercrime, technology in policing, counter-terrorism challenges, left-wing extremism, and prison reforms. Additionally, participants will deliberate on the roadmap for implementing new criminal laws recently passed by Parliament.
Futuristic themes in policing and security, such as the challenges posed by new technologies like AI and deep fakes, will also be addressed during the conference. The event aims to identify actionable points and monitor their progress, presenting them to the Prime Minister annually.
Since 2014, PM Modi has shown a keen interest in the DGP conference, actively participating in major sessions and encouraging free and informal discussions to foster new ideas. The conference will witness free-flowing thematic discussions over meals, providing senior police officials with an opportunity to share views and recommendations on key policing and internal security issues affecting the country with the Prime Minister.
Apart from PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, MOS for Home Affairs, Cabinet Secretary, senior officials of the Government of India, DGP of States/UTs, and Heads of Central Armed Police Forces and Central Police Organisations are expected to attend the conference. The annual DGP conferences, initiated by PM Modi in 2014, aim to promote dialogue, share best practices, and address critical issues in policing and internal security. This year’s conference continues the tradition in Jaipur.
