Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Telangana on Sunday afternoon to initiate a slew of development projects valued at over Rs 13,500 crore. The Prime Minister’s Office released details of his itinerary, stating that he will arrive in Mahabubnagar district at approximately 2:15 PM.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects spanning several key sectors, including road, rail, petroleum and natural gas, and higher education. He will also launch a train service through video conferencing.
One of the significant road projects is related to the Nagpur – Vijayawada Economic Corridor, comprising a 108 km long ‘four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Warangal to Khammam’ and a 90 km long ‘four-lane access-controlled greenfield highway from Khammam to Vijayawada.’ These road projects have a combined budget of around Rs 6,400 crore and will notably reduce travel distances between Warangal and Khammam and between Khammam and Vijayawada.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will dedicate a road project involving the ‘four laning of the 59 km long Suryapet to Khammam section of NH-365BB,’ constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 2,460 crore. This project is part of the Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Corridor and is developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, aimed at improving connectivity to Khammam district and coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh.
In terms of railways, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the ’37 Kms of Jaklair – Krishna New Railway Line,’ an initiative costing over Rs 500 crore. This new rail line will bring previously unconnected areas of the Narayanpet district onto the Railway Map. Additionally, the Prime Minister will flag off the inaugural Hyderabad (Kacheguda) – Raichur – Hyderabad (Kacheguda) train service, thus connecting various districts in Telangana and Karnataka.
This rail service will provide crucial connectivity to new areas in the backward districts of Mahabubnagar and Narayanpet, benefitting students, daily commuters, laborers, and the local handloom industry.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for vital oil and gas pipeline projects. The ‘Hassan-Cherlapalli LPG Pipeline Project,’ constructed at a cost of about Rs 2,170 crore, will ensure safe, cost-efficient, and eco-friendly LPG transportation and distribution from Hassan in Karnataka to Cherlapalli near Hyderabad.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will initiate the ‘Multi-Product Petroleum Pipeline of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) from Krishnapatnam to Hyderabad (Malkapur).’ This 425-kilometer pipeline, with a budget of Rs 1,940 crore, will offer a secure, faster, and environmentally friendly mode of petroleum product transportation in the region.
In addition to these infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister will inaugurate five new buildings at the University of Hyderabad, including the School of Economics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Management Studies, Lecture Hall Complex – III, and Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication (Annexe). These upgrades signify a commitment to improving facilities and amenities for students and faculty at the university.
