PM Modi To Unveil India’s First Underwater Metro in Kolkata Tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to inaugurate India’s first underwater Metro facility in the city of Kolkata on Wednesday, marking a major step forward for transportation in the city. The conference expanded to include major metro and rapid transit projects across the country and highlighted the government’s commitment to improving urban mobility and connectivity.

Kolkata Metro Extension, specifically the Howrah Maidan-Marina Metro section, introduced India’s first railway tunnel, a milestone in the country’s infrastructure development. In addition to its importance, this area also connects Kolkata’s vibrant hubs, improving the efficiency and service of the city’s public transport system.

In addition to the underground metro, Prime Minister Modi will also open the Kavi Subhash – Hemanta Mukhopadhyay metro section and Taratala – Majerhat metro section, which are components of the Joka-Esplanade line. The second one, Majerhat Station, is a beautiful architecture that offers new urban solutions with its high structure on the railway line, platforms and canals.

The rally has started to continue beyond Kolkata, where Prime Minister Modi will be present to wave flags to mark the closure of various projects across the country. These include Ruby Hall Clinic in the Ramwadi section of Pune Metro, Kochi Metro Phase 1 extension from SN Junction metro station to Tripunithura metro station, Taj Mahal East Gate in Mankameshwar section of Agra Metro and Duhai-Modinagar (North) section of Delhi. These measures aim to improve the transport system and provide uninterrupted, efficient and attractive public transport links. For example, the new section of the Agra Metro has improved access to the city’s historical monuments, while the RRTS corridor has boosted trade in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Agra Metro. The first phase of the Pune Metro Rail plan between Pimpri Chinchwad Metro-Nigdi deals with further expansion and improvement of transport in the city. This comprehensive measure reflects the government’s commitment to improving transport efficiency and effectiveness across the country, promoting improved connectivity, reducing environmental impact and stimulating job growth.
