PM Modi Unveils Project Worth Rs 55,600 Crore In Arunachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 9th, announced the launch of projects valued at ₹55,600 crore in the Northeast region, which includes the strategic Sela tunnel aimed at providing all-weather connectivity to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. These projects, spanning across Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, were unveiled at a ceremony in Itanagar.

The Sela tunnel, an engineering marvel constructed at a cost of approximately ₹825 crore, will facilitate all-weather connectivity to Tawang through the Sela pass on the Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang Road in Arunachal Pradesh. Notably, this project, whose foundation stone was laid by PM Modi in February 2019, not only promises a swifter and more efficient transportation route in the region but also holds strategic significance for the nation given its proximity to the frontier with China.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Sela tunnel by flagging off an Arunachal Pradesh State Transport bus passing through it. Additionally, he unveiled development projects worth over ₹41,000 crore in Arunachal Pradesh, including the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Dibang Multipurpose Hydropower Project in the Lower Dibang Valley district, estimated to cost ₹31,875 crore, making it the tallest dam structure in the country.

Furthermore, PM Modi laid the foundation stones for various road infrastructures, environmental initiatives, tourism projects, and school upgrades. He also inaugurated approximately 1,100 projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission and 170 telecom towers under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), benefiting over 300 villages among others.

Moreover, the Prime Minister handed over more than 35,000 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, amounting to ₹450 crores. Additionally, projects worth over ₹3,400 crore were unveiled in Manipur.
