PM Modi’s Visit to the US: Addressing Indian Americans and Meeting CEOs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a state visit to Washington, DC, on June 22, at the invitation of US President Joe Biden, the White House announced on Wednesday. During the visit, Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will also welcome Modi for a state banquet.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Said: “The upcoming visit will underline the deep and close cooperation between the United States and India as well as the warm ties of family and friendship that connect Americans and Indians. The visit will increase the joint commitment of our two nations to a free, open, prosperous, and safe Indo-Pacific region as well as our shared desire to advance our strategic technology collaboration, notably in defense, clean energy, and space.

From June 21 to 24, Prime Minister Modi will be in the US at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

On June 22, Modi will be hosted by the US president and first lady at a state banquet. On June 22, the visit will also include a speech before the joint session of Congress.
Dr. Bharat Barai, an influential member of the Indian American community, claimed that on the evening of June 23, Modi will speak to a group of diaspora leaders from around the nation who have been invited. Dr. Barai has also announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would speak on June 23 to an audience of Indian Americans around the US about the role of the diaspora in India’s growth story.

The PM is likely to lead International Yoga Day celebrations a day earlier, on June 21, at the United Nations in New York, an event that will see substantial participation from the international community. During his visit, he will also interact with leaders from all facets of American politics and prominent business figures.

The prime minister’s talk will take place in the famous Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre, which has already played host to several high-profile gatherings. According to Barai on Wednesday, the Ronald Reagan-inspired venue can accommodate 900 people. It is the first federal structure in Washington to be made for both public and private use. The only community event that will take place during the prime minister’s visit is currently under heavy preparation. He claimed that a national organizing committee made up of 25 distinguished individuals has been formed.

The timing of Modi’s visit coincides with a busy diplomatic schedule for both nations. The PM and Biden are anticipated to interact several more times this year, including during the G7 summit in Hiroshima, their simultaneous trip to Papua New Guinea, the Quad leaders’ level summit in Australia later this month, and Biden’s possible combined visit to New Delhi for the G20 summit in September. The foreign policy apparatuses in Delhi and Washington, DC, are eager to build on the momentum of the partnership this year because both India and the US will be holding elections in 2024.
