On Tuesday, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized that stringent directives have been given to the bureaucracy in West Bengal to guarantee fair competition among all political parties. He further emphasized that any instance of violence will be dealt with firmly and will not be condoned during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking at a press conference, Kumar stated that the Election Commission’s objective is to facilitate elections in the state that are free, fair, and devoid of violence. “There is no room for fear or coercion in elections. Any biased behaviour from the bureaucracy will not be accepted; we have communicated this unequivocally,” he remarked.
The Election Commission Chief also said that they have come up with a new action plan where few of the polling stations will have only women workers that is the poll stations will be run entirely by women. He said, “We will try to deploy female security personnel in those polling stations… Similarly, some polling stations will be established entirely by persons with disabilities. This will present an example for the society that they are no less than anyone else.”

As mentioned, Election Commission Chief aims to set examples for empowering woman through this decision and also he claimed that some polling stations will be established entirely by persons with disabilities.
This system will empower users to promptly report any signs of irregularities or violence related to elections. Authorities will aim to address the reported concerns within 100 minutes. Furthermore, the application will function as a means to identify candidates with criminal histories, facilitating the disclosure of any criminal charges against them.
Informing, that the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 elections is expected to be schedule in the mid May.
