In a significant development, security forces have been deployed in the Bafliaz area of Poonch district as intensive search operations are underway to apprehend terrorists in the forest area of Dera ki Gali in the Rajouri sector. This move follows a recent terrorist attack on army personnel in the Poonch-Rajouri sector on December 21, resulting in the tragic loss of four soldiers.
The Indian Army, addressing the situation on social media, stated on Saturday that it is conducting a thorough inquiry into the deaths of three civilians in the Poonch-Rajouri sector. The attack by militants has triggered an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Search operations by the security forces are continuing in the area of operations after the incident of December 21. Reports have been received regarding three civilian deaths in the area. The matter is under investigation,” the Indian Army announced on X.
Emphasizing their commitment, the Indian Army expressed its dedication to providing full support and cooperation in the conduct of investigations.
Earlier today, the Jammu and Kashmir administration took steps to address the aftermath of the incident by announcing compensation and job opportunities for the families of the three civilians found dead near the site of the anti-terrorist operation in Poonch district. The medico-legal formalities have been conducted, and legal action has been initiated in this matter by the appropriate authority.
This unfortunate event unfolded after terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles in the forest area of Dera ki Gali in the Rajouri district, leading to the killing of four Army personnel and injuring three others on Thursday evening.
Sources indicate that Pakistan is attempting to revive terrorism in the Rajouri-Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Approximately 25-30 Pakistani terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the forest areas of the region. Defense sources suggested that this plan aligns with a broader strategy by Pakistan and China to pressure the Indian Army into redeploying forces from the Ladakh sector to the Rajouri-Poonch region.
The situation has prompted concerns about the larger geopolitical game plan and the need for India to maintain its strategic position. In response, the Indian Army recently deployed an additional brigade to counter terrorist activities and has achieved success in the region.
Reacting to the developments, JK National Conference MP Farooq Abdullah expressed concern over the loss of lives and urged Home Minister Amit Shah to address the sentiments of the people in Surankote. He highlighted the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the importance of a thorough investigation and respect for human rights.
