In a major announcement from Rashtrapati Bhavan, president of India Draupadi Mumu has appointed 6 new governors.
As per the statement, the Governor of Sikkim, Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been given the governorship of Assam. In addition, he has also been entrusted with Manipur’s additional charge. Replacing Anusuiya Uikye, who has been Manipur’s governor since last year’s February.
As for Sikkim, Veteran BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur will now be the governor of the state. Furthermore, the communique also revealed, that Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan, will now be the new governor of Maharashtra. Notably, he also held an extra charge of Telangana.
Meanwhile, succeeding Radhakrishnan, ex-minister of Union Labour and Employment, Santosh Kumar Gangwar is going to be a new governor of Jharkhand.
Coming to Telangana, Tripura’s ex-deputy CM Jishnu Dev Verma is going to state’s new governor.
Along with the states, the new governors have also been appointed for two union territory of India. For Puducherry, PM Modi’s trusted aide K Kailashnathan has become Lt Governor.
Succeeding Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Gulab Chand Kataria has now become administrator of Chandigarh.
As for other states, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, Ramen Deka and C H Vijayashankar have been respectively been appointed as governors of Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Meghalaya.
Their appointments will begin from the dates they take their charge of their offices, said statement.
