Droupadi Murmu Approves Pashupati Kumar Paras’s Resignation From Union Minister Position

President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Pashupati Kumar Paras from the Union Council of Ministers, effective immediately. The decision was made in accordance with clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution, based on the Prime Minister’s advice.

In addition, as per the Prime Minister’s recommendation, Kiren Rijiju, Cabinet Minister, will now assume the charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, alongside his current responsibilities.

Pashupati Kumar Paras, the President of Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), tendered his resignation as a union minister following his party’s exclusion from contesting any seats in the upcoming Bihar Lok Sabha elections. Expressing his disappointment, Paras mentioned that despite his party having five MPs and his dedicated work, they were unfairly treated, leading to his resignation.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announced the seat-sharing arrangement in Bihar for the Lok Sabha polls, with BJP contesting 17 seats, JD-(U) 16, and Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) each contesting one seat. LJP (Ram Vilas) was allocated five seats.

The Lok Sabha elections in Bihar are scheduled in seven phases, beginning on April 19 and ending on June 1, with results declared on June 4. In the 2019 elections, BJP won 17 seats, JD(U) secured 16 seats, LJP won 6 seats, and INC won one seat.
