President Droupadi Murmu will speak at the National Commission for Women's 31st Foundation Day in Delhi today.

President Droupadi Murmu will speak at the National Commission for Women’s 31st Foundation Day in Delhi today.

The topic of the programme, according to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, is ‘Sashakt Nari Sashakt Bharat,’ which aims to recognise and celebrate the tales of women who have succeeded and forged their way to leave a mark. Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, and Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Minister of State, will also be present.

The event will be attended by representatives from the National Commissions for Women, State Commissions for Women, Embassies, legal dignitaries, Departments of Women and Child Development, MLAs, University and college teaching faculty and students, senior officials from the police department, military and paramilitary officials, National and State Legal Services Authority, members of the NCW advisory Committee, ex-Chairpersons and Members of the Commission, and NGOs.

From January 31 to February 1, the Commission will host a two-day event to commemorate its 31st Foundation Day.

On the second day, a panel discussion will be place with outstanding women who have paved the way for others to be inspired and empowered. The Commission hopes to provide a platform for a diversified and varied exchange of debate centred on gender equality in decision-making and leadership roles for women from various socioeconomic backgrounds through this discussion.

The National Commission for Women was established in January 1992 as a statutory entity under the National Commission for Women Act of 1990. It was established to assess the constitutional and legal safeguards for women, recommend corrective legislative measures, facilitate grievance redressal, and advise the government on women’s policy issues.
