Principal Secy to PM Reviews Progress in G20 New Delhi Leader’s Declaration Implementation

PK Mishra, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, assumed the chair at a meeting held on Wednesday to review the progress in implementing the G20 New Delhi Leader’s Declaration.

In attendance at the meeting were the Vice-Chairman of Niti Aayog, G20 Sherpa, G20 Chief Coordinator, and senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), and Niti Aayog.

As part of ongoing efforts, a series of seven webinars have been proposed, with the respective ministries leading each and engaging all relevant departments. The webinars are set to revolve around the following themes: strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth, accelerating progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a green development pact for a sustainable future, multilateral institutions for the 21st century, technological transformation and digital public infrastructure, women-led development, and countering terrorism and money laundering.

Furthermore, a seminar is in the planning stages, aimed at involving various think-tanks from across the country to gather insights from area experts regarding the effective execution of the New Delhi Leader’s Declaration.

PK Mishra emphasized the establishment of a high-level monitoring mechanism to consistently oversee the implementation of the Declaration.

During the meeting, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra updated the Principal Secretary on the preparations for the second Voice of Global South Summit, scheduled for November 2023.

The meeting underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the successful execution of the Leader’s Declaration and its dedication to promoting global cooperation in matters of development and welfare.

Additionally, Principal Secretary Mishra discussed the forthcoming G20 Virtual Summit, an initiative initially proposed by the Prime Minister during the New Delhi Summit. This unique virtual gathering will mark the first time any country has hosted such an event following the main Summit, necessitating the swift dissemination of information to all member-states and guest countries.
