The Punjab cabinet has greenlit the Budget Session of the Assembly, slated for March, with sessions scheduled from March 1 to 15. The state budget presentation is scheduled for March 5, as announced by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday through his official X handle.
Among the decisions made, the cabinet approved a grant of Rs 1 crore to the family of Home Guard Jaspal Singh, who tragically lost his life in the Sultanpur Lodhi incident last November. This incident arose from a clash between the police and ‘Nihang’ Sikhs regarding control of Gurdwara Akal Bunga in Kapurthala’s Sultanpur Lodhi.
Furthermore, CM Mann also revealed an increase in the Jangi Jagir amount by Rs 10,000, now raised from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 annually. ‘Jangi Jagir’ serves as the honorarium provided to the widows of army personnel.
These decisions mark significant steps taken by the Punjab cabinet, aiming to address important matters and provide support to those affected by recent events.
