In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Punjab Police, in collaboration with central forces, organized a flag march in Amritsar’s Ranjit Avenue area on Tuesday. The primary objective of this initiative was to bolster a sense of security among residents, ensuring an environment conducive to free and fair voting.
Varinder Singh Khosa, ACP North Amritsar, articulated the significance of the flag march, stating, “Today, the police, alongside central paramilitary forces, are conducting a flag march to instill confidence among the public, enabling them to exercise their voting rights without apprehension. Stringent actions will be taken against any anti-social elements.”

Khosa further emphasized the enforcement of strict measures against individuals involved in criminal activities, particularly the illegal transportation of cash and liquor during elections. “To prevent such occurrences, we have heightened security measures,” he added.
Earlier on the same day, Punjab’s top officials convened a virtual state-level meeting to ensure the conduct of free, fair, and transparent elections, aligning with the guidelines stipulated by the Election Commission of India. DGP Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav utilized X to communicate directives to police officers at various levels, stressing the importance of professional policing and adherence to election guidelines.
Yadav affirmed, “The Punjab Police are fully prepared for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state,” underscoring their readiness to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
Furthermore, Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C organized a meeting with representatives from major political parties to deliberate on essential aspects of the impending elections. During this session, detailed insights into the election process were provided, including statistics such as the total number of voters, gender distribution, presence of special voter categories, and the count of polling stations.
These proactive measures signify Punjab’s commitment to facilitating a fair, transparent, and secure electoral process, ensuring the democratic rights of its citizens are safeguarded.
