Rahul Gandhi in LS: Like Ravan listened to Meghnad, Kumbhakarna, Modi listens only to Shah, Adani

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched an unreserved attack on the Centre’s handling of the Manipur situation, drawing a striking comparison between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the mythological figure ‘Ravan’. He asserted that just as the multi-headed demon king heeded “Meghnad” and “Kumbhakarna”, PM Modi listens exclusively to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and industrialist Gautam Adani.

During the debate on the Opposition’s no-confidence motion against the Centre, Rahul Gandhi referred to Ravan’s character in the Ramayana and remarked, “Ravan used to listen only to Meghnad and Kumbhakarna. Similarly, Modi-ji listens only to Amit Shah and (Gautam) Adani.”

While criticizing the Centre’s alleged failure to curb violence in Manipur, Rahul claimed, “They killed Bharat Mata in Manipur.”

He pointed out that it was Ravan’s hubris, not Lord Ram, that led to Ravan’s demise. Drawing an analogy, he stated, “Lanka wasn’t burned down by Lord Hanuman; it was Ravan’s arrogance that set it ablaze. In the same vein, it was Ravan’s arrogance, not Lord Ram, that led to his end. You (BJP) are spreading kerosene across the nation. You ignited it in Manipur, and now you’re doing the same in Haryana and beyond. You’re causing the demise of Bharat Maata across the country.”

Rahul Gandhi also accused the BJP of “murdering India in Manipur,” labelling them as “traitors, not patriots.”

He attacked Prime Minister Modi for not visiting Manipur despite the ethnic violence, suggesting that the state doesn’t seem to hold national significance for the Prime Minister.

This was Rahul Gandhi’s first speech after being reinstated as a Lok Sabha member following his conviction in a defamation case. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude for his reinstatement and apologized for his previous remarks concerning the Adani-Hindenburg issue. He assured that his present speech would not revolve around that topic.

The Lok Sabha initiated a debate on a no-confidence motion against the government on Tuesday.
