Priests from around the country have denounced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remark that India is a land of Tapasvis, not Pujaris.
“India is a Brahmin country. No auspicious task can be done without Brahmins. Just like you cannot enter a theatre without a gatekeeper, no puja is complete without brahmins. The remarks made against Brahmins are completely incorrect “declared Ujjawal Pandit, a Haridwar priest.
Further Rawal Aurudh Aniyal, a Yamunotri Dham monk stated “The way Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi insulted priests and claimed that India is not a land of Brahmins is heinous. He has attacked customs, culture, and patriots. Such individuals should leave India.”
According to Bhaskar Dimri, a priest from Badrinath Dham, “This is a Sanatan cultural country. I’d like to remind Rahul Gandhi that the term Pujari refers to Sanatan, Sanskrit, and Civilization (Sabhyata).”
During the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Kurukshetra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also stated, “RSS members never scream ‘Har Har Mahadev’ because Lord Shiva was a ‘Tapasavi,’ and these people are targeting India’s ‘Tapasya’. Goddess Sita has been deleted from ‘Jai Siya Ram’. These individuals are fighting against Indian culture.”
“Even Rahul Gandhi went and conducted Pooja and aarti at Kurukshetra,” Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar remarked in response to Rahul Gandhi’s alleged “Tapasvi-Pujari” comment.
Earlier on Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi referred to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh members as 21st-century Kauravas who wear Khakhi half-pants, run shakhas, and strive against the country’s culture.
