Raising Day: HM Amit Shah Extends Greetings To CRPF

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, extended his greetings to all courageous CRPF personnel and their families in celebration of the central force’s Raising Day.

He also honored the CRPF soldiers who gave their lives in the line of duty.

In a tweet, Shah said, “Greetings to CRPF personnel and their family members on their Raising Day. Since its inception, the @crpfindia has taken national security as its mission. The brave soldiers of the force have exerted all their might to accomplish this goal without ever caring for their lives and have emerged victorious every time. I bow to the martyrs of the CRPF who laid down their lives in the line of duty.”

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the largest Central Armed Police Force in India. Originally known as the Crown Representatives Police when it was established on July 27, 1939, it was renamed following the passage of the CRPF Act on December 28, 1949, according to the CRPF’s official website. Besides its duties in maintaining law and order and combating insurgency, the CRPF has also been vital in managing General Elections in recent years, the website notes.

The CRPF is essential in protecting key Central Government facilities, such as airports, power plants, bridges, Doordarshan Kendras, All India Radio Stations, the residences of Governors and Chief Ministers, nationalized banks, and various other government establishments in states affected by insurgency. Additionally, 16 companies are designated to provide security for three highly sensitive sites: Krishna Janma Bhoomi, the Shahi Idgah Masjid complex in Mathura, and the Ram Janma Bhoomi temple in Ayodhya.

The CRPF also assigns 6 companies to safeguard the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra, Jammu, which is located in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, the CRPF offers static guard services for the residences and offices of the Prime Minister, various Union Ministers, and other high-profile dignitaries.
