Rajasthan: 14 Children Suffer Electric Shock During Mahashivaratri Procession In Kota

On Mahashivratri in Kota, Rajasthan, 14 children reportedly suffered electric shock injuries during a procession, with three of them in critical condition, as revealed by reliable sources. The incident occurred as the children, aged 10-16, were part of the ‘Shiv Barat’ procession on Mahashivratri morning.

The cause of the electric shock was attributed to contact with a high-tension power line passing overhead in the Sakatoura area under the Kunhari police station. The two critically injured children suffered 50 percent and 100 percent burns while the remaining victims had burns of less than 50 percent.

A senior police official mentioned that all injured children were promptly taken to MBS Hospital in Kota for medical attention. Rajasthan Minister Heeralal Nagar expressed sorrow over the incident, stating, “It’s a very sad incident. Two children are seriously injured with one having 100% burns. A special team has been formed to provide all possible treatment. Officials are directed to investigate if there has been any kind of negligence.”

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reportedly visited the hospital to assess the situation. More details are awaited.
