Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, announcing his diagnosis on social media platform ‘X’. “I underwent a health test today due to some health issues, and my Covid report has returned positive. I’m currently in self-isolation and strictly adhering to medical advice. I will participate in all upcoming events virtually,” Sharma stated.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot conveyed his wishes for Sharma’s swift recovery upon learning about the diagnosis. “I was informed of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma’s positive Covid test. My heartfelt wishes for his speedy recovery,” Gehlot posted on ‘X’.
This development comes after Gehlot himself tested positive for COVID-19 and swine flu the previous month. Gehlot took to ‘X’ to share the news, stating, “Due to persistent fever over the past few days, I underwent testing today as per doctors’ advice, confirming both Covid and swine flu. Consequently, I’ll be unavailable for meetings for the next seven days.” He was subsequently admitted to the IDH center of SMS Hospital in Jaipur for further treatment.
In the broader context, India has reported 217 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, witnessing an increase of 28 in active cases. The total reported cases in the country now stand at 4,50,30,684, with active cases numbering 1,081.
Rajasthan, on the other hand, recorded nine new Covid cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total reported cases in the state to 13,26,846. Active cases have decreased by 38 and currently stand at 75.
