Rajasthan: Three individuals arrested for naked parade

The police detained three individuals on Saturday after they allegedly beat and paraded a tribal woman naked in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district. District Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar confirmed this and disclosed that they arrested two other suspects in addition to the woman’s husband. The police reported that the accused attempted to flee when they saw the police and sustained injuries while escaping. They are currently receiving medical treatment at the district hospital in Pratapgarh and will subsequently be presented in court. Police revealed that the tribal woman’s husband and in-laws are accused of assaulting and publicly humiliating her in Pratapgarh district, Rajasthan. The incident came to public attention after a video of the incident went viral. According to Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra, the incident occurred on Thursday in Nichalkota village of Pahada Gram Panchayat, within the jurisdiction of Dhariyavad police station in Pratapgarh district.

The victim, who had been married for a year, is accused of residing with another man in the same village.
Pratapgarh DGP Umesh Mishra stated that the woman’s in-laws are responsible for this dreadful act. They abducted her and brought her to their village, where the incident occurred. Their anger stemmed from her departure to another location following her marriage.

“After the woman was kidnapped, she was beaten up by her husband who also stripped her and paraded her for about one kilometre in the village, the DGP said.
Earlier Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had posted on X ” The ADG Crime was sent to the scene of crime immediately and we have instructed the police to take strict action against the accused in accordance with the law. In a civilised society there is no space for for ciminals like these. The case will be sent to a fast track court to ensure speedy delivery of justice”

CP Joshi, the State president of the BJP, criticized the Rajasthan government for its lenient approach towards crimes targeting women.
Posting on X he said ” Today Rajasthan is ashamed..the fact that the government did not even know about this shameful incident in Pratapgarh shows why Rajasthan has become the number one state in crime and assault against women.”
