The Rajya Sabha session was adjourned till March 13 due to incessant sloganeering by opposition leaders. Following the adjournment of the House, BJP leaders Pralhad Joshi and Piyush Goyal requested an apology from Opposition leaders for allegedly hindering Parliament’s functioning. The first phase of the Rajya Sabha’s Parliamentary Budget Session has concluded. The House will now reassemble in March for the second session of the Budget.
Chaos erupted moments after proceedings began on Monday morning, when Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar removed portions of Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks.
“LoP, you’ve indicated in so many words that the Chair is acting under pressure. These words are expunged. You are forfeiting your right to hold the floor of the House. Every time you are saying that the Chair is acting under pressure”, Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar told Kharge in the House.
Later, the Chair advised MPs Raghav Chaddha, Sanjay Singh, Imran Pratapgarhi, Shakti Singh Gohil, Sandeep Pathak, and Kumar Ketkar, among others, against entering the House well today.
