Ayodhya, Ram Mandir: Sita’s Hometown-Nepal to Send Special Gifts for Inauguration

In a gesture of cultural and historical significance, Nepal is set to send special gifts, including various types of jewelry, utensils, clothes, and sweets, to Ayodhya for the grand inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh’s Ram Janmabhoomi next month. The news was reported by Nepal’s My Republica newspaper, which highlighted the upcoming Janakpur Dham to Ayodhya Dham journey to deliver these special gifts.

The journey, scheduled to commence on January 18, will conclude in Ayodhya on January 20, with the gifts handed over to the Sri Rama Janmabhoomi Ram Mandir Trust on the same day. Ramaroshan Das Vaishnav, Joint Mahanta of the Janaki Temple, confirmed this information, adding that the Maha Mastaka Abhisheka of Ayodhya is planned for January 22.

The journey’s route will pass through various towns, including Jaleshwar Nath, Malangwa, Simraungadh, Gadhimai, Birgunj, Betia, Khushinagar, Siddharthnagar, and Gorakhpur, originating from Janakpurdham. In addition to the gifts, Shaligrama stones, collected from the banks of the Kaligandaki River in Nepal, have already been sent to Ayodhya. According to reports, an idol of Lord Rama, crafted from these stones, will be installed in the temple on the inauguration day.

Champat Roy, the general secretary of the ‘Ramajanmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust,’ responsible for the temple’s construction, stated that the final decision regarding the idol of Lord Rama, scheduled to be installed on January 22, will be made in the first week of January. Three idols are currently being carved, and a high-level committee will convene to determine which of these idols will find its place in the sanctum sanctorum.

The gifts from Sita’s hometown signify the deep cultural and religious ties between Nepal and Ayodhya, underscoring the historical connections shared by the two regions. The grand Ram Mandir inauguration is eagerly awaited, symbolizing a momentous occasion that transcends borders and celebrates shared heritage.
