EAM S. Jaishankar To File Nomination From Gujrat

Jaishankar arrived on Sunday,9 July at the Ahmedabad airport and was welcomed by BJP officials as well as Gujarat Minister Raghavji Patel and Ahmedabad Mayor Kirit Parmar.

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) official informed that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has arrived in Gujarat to submit his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections from Gujarat on 10 July,2023.
Gujarat BJP general secretary Pradeep singh Vaghela added that Jaishankar, whose tenure ends on August 18 along with two other Rajya Sabha members from the State, is expected to submit his nomination form on Monday, 10 July around noon from Gujarat’s Gandhi Nagar.

Jaishankar arrived on Sunday,9 July at the Ahmedabad airport and was welcomed by BJP officials as well as Gujarat Minister Raghav ji Patel and Ahmedabad Mayor Kirit Parmar.
10 MPs from Goa, Gujarat, and West Bengal are scheduled to retire between the months of July and August, according to the Election Commission.

Derek O’Brien of West Bengal and S. Jaishankar of Gujarat are two of the ten members whose Rajya Sabha seats will become vacant due to retirement.
Even though the BJP hasn’t formally announced its candidates for the three Rajya Sabha seats where elections are set to take place on July 24, Jaishankar’s nomination seemed certain.
The BJP presently has eight of the 11 Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat, while the Congress holds the other three.
Dineshchandra Jemalbhai Anavadiya, Lokhandwala Jugal Singh Mathurji, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar Krishnaswamy’s mandates in the eight seats held by the BJP will expire on August 18. Elections will be held for these three positions.

Reportedly, due to a lack of MLAs in the 182-member State Assembly, the Congress declared on Friday that it would not run candidates for the three Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat.
The deadline for submitting nominations is July 13, and the withdrawal deadline is July 17. If voting is required, it will take place on July 24.
Jaishankar took oath as the member of Upper house and got elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat in 2019.
