On Wednesday, Santosh Kumar Gangwar officially becomes the Governor of Jharkhand, taking over the governorship from CP Radhakrishnan.

Santosh Kumar Gangwar was administered oath by Chief Justice of Jharkhand, Sujit Naryan Prasad.

After being sworn-in, Santosh Kumar Gangwar said ‘I think this state will make an identity for itself before the country and set parameters for development and progress. I have reached here today.’

In addition, he also added that state will progress greatly under Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Jharkhand’s current Chief Minister Hemant Soren also attended the ceremony.

Congratulating the new governor, Soren said ‘We welcome the politically experienced Santosh Gangwar to Jharkhand.’

Furthermore he also said ‘Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar is politically experienced. Together, we welcome him to Jharkhand with the hope that we will continue the journey together.’

Portfolios Held By Santosh Kumar Gangwar

Santosh Kumar Gangwar is an eight-time MP from UP’s Bareilly Lok Sabha. Under both Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi governments, he was a minister.

From May 26 2014 to July  5 2016, he was a minister of State for Textiles at Narendra Modi-led government.

Later in May 2019, Gangwar held an  Ministership of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment.

Meanwhile as an MP, he was elected for the first time in the year 1989. He continued to win from Bareilly for six consecutive terms until 2009. then, He was narrowly defeated by Congress candidate Praveen Singh Aron.
