Security Forces Seize Major Arms Cache In Manipur Search Operations

In a series of coordinated search operations across Manipur, security forces, including the Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles (AR), and Manipur Police, successfully recovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms proliferation and ensure safety in the region, particularly in vulnerable areas of the hill and valley districts.

Major Recoveries in Bishnupur District

During a recent search operation at Machin Manao Ching in Chingmang Bamdiar, Bishnupur District, the Manipur Police uncovered a range of weaponry, including:

  • One Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with a magazine
  • Two RPG shells and two RPG shell chargers
  • Three HE-36 hand grenades
  • One Chinese hand grenade
  • One WT handset marked “BAOFENG, UV-5R”
  • Two miscellaneous items

These recoveries underscore the persistent threat posed by illegal arms in the region and highlight the determination of local law enforcement to address this issue.

Joint Operations in Churachandpur District

In another significant operation at Nalon in Churachandpur District, joint teams consisting of the Army, BSF, and Manipur Police seized two large, heavy-caliber country-made mortars (Pompis) and two No. 80 grenades. These actions form part of the broader strategy to maintain security and prevent any escalation of violence in sensitive areas of the state.

Comprehensive Searches in Thoubal District

A further recovery occurred during a coordinated search at Tekcham Maning Ching in Thoubal District, where the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police discovered an array of weaponry and explosives, including:

  • One 7.62mm SLR with an empty magazine
  • Two SMG carbines with magazines
  • One .32 pistol and one 9mm pistol, both with empty magazines
  • One 51mm Para Bomb
  • Four HE-36 hand grenades (without detonators)
  • Two tube launchers
  • Two electronic detonators
  • Five STARDYNE-90 explosives (weighing 125 grams each)
  • Twelve live ammunition rounds
  • Various grenades and tear smoke shells

This extensive recovery showcases the commitment of security forces to prevent these dangerous weapons from falling into the wrong hands, posing a significant threat to the safety of local communities.
