Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the Delhi Women’s Commission, has again come into action after a case of harassment with girls in Delhi University’s IP College came to the fore. He has taken this issue seriously. Regarding this incident, he had already issued notice to DU, IP College and Delhi Police. Now he has issued recommendations to Delhi Police, DU and IP College together regarding the sexual harassment case in IP College Fest. Along with this, many burning issues related to women’s safety have been raised. He has asked Delhi Police, Delhi University and IP College to file an action taken report by April 18.
Swati Maliwal, head of the Delhi Women’s Commission, in her recommendation, has said that in connection with the sexual harassment of girls by some boys during the fest on March 28 at IP Women’s College, the Delhi Police, taking possession of the CCTV footage and other evidence, should take action against the arrested accused. Take strict action immediately. Not only this, but the Delhi Police should also record the victims’ statements under relevant sections of the IPC. In this work, the lethargy of the Delhi Police and the apathetic attitude of the DU and IP College administration has also been termed as unfortunate. He has also asked Delhi Police, DU and IP College to file an action-taken report on these issues on April 18.
During DU’s IP College college fest on March 28, some boys entered the campus by scaling the wall. Some of them harassed the girls. After the matter came to light, the police registered an FIR, arrested the accused, and are now taking further action. The Delhi Women’s Commission is dissatisfied with the attitude of the Police, DU and the college administration. This is why while issuing some recommendations, the commission has asked all three agencies to take necessary steps and submit the report by April 18.
