Terrorist Shahid Latif, Mastermind of Pathankot Attack Shot Dead in Pakistan

In a significant development, Shahid Latif, one of the most wanted terrorists in India, was shot dead today by an unidentified gunman in Pakistan. This marks the end of a long and troubling chapter in India’s fight against terrorism.

Shahid Latif’s notorious journey began in 1996 when he was arrested in Jammu, India, in connection with a case related to narcotics and terrorism. His activities and involvement in various acts of terror made him a top priority for Indian authorities.

Shahid Latif was one among the group of terrorists released following the hijacking of Indian Airlines plane IC814 in 1999. The terrorists behind the hijacking demanded Latif’s release, among other demands, but the Indian government steadfastly refused to comply with their demands.

In 2010, under the Congress government, Shahid Latif and nearly 20 other terrorists were deported to Pakistan in an effort to improve diplomatic relations between the two nations. This move was met with mixed reactions and raised questions about the implications of such a decision.

Sources have indicated that Shahid Latif was the mastermind behind the infamous Pathankot attack. This terrorist attack in January 2016 which targeted an Indian Air Force base in Pathankot, Punjab, resulting in a significant loss of life and heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

While details surrounding Latif’s demise remain scarce, this event has stirred discussions about the broader implications for the fight against terrorism and the complex relationship between India and Pakistan.
