Sharad Pawar calls Opposition meeting today to discuss EVM issues

Sharad Pawar calls Opposition meeting today to discuss EVM issues

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has invited a meeting of opposition party leaders on Thursday to examine the Rural Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). On Thursday evening, the meeting would take conducted at Pawar’s home. The NCP president proposed convening a conference of all political parties that have questions about the efficiency of the Rural Electronic Voting Machine in a letter to all opposition leaders (EVM).

This comes after the Chief Election Commissioner committed to address concerns made by civil society activists and political parties. Pawar added that the conference was held to promote free and fair elections and to hear the perspectives of top IT professionals and cryptographers.

The CCE Report raises some very significant issues. The paper includes the perspectives of renowned information technology professors, cryptographers, and retired government officials.

In May 2022, the civil society sent a letter to the Election Commission of India, followed by a two-week reminder (Annexure 3). Even ECI acknowledged their letter. Even the average guy is beginning to have reservations about the prospect of manipulating EVMs, according to Pawar.
