Trinamool Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh, asserting that Singh, like other opposition leaders, was arrested under the vindictive politics of the ruling BJP government.
Sinha emphasized that Singh’s arrest appeared to be politically motivated from the outset, and bail should have been granted much earlier. He criticized the misuse of Section 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by government agencies and the ruling party, suggesting that Singh’s arrest was due to his revolutionary nature. Sinha drew parallels between Singh and former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar.
The TMC leader praised the Supreme Court for not only rebuking government agencies but also reflecting on the actions of those in society driven by vendetta.
Sinha highlighted similar cases of alleged political vendetta, including the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and accused the BJP of treating politicians unfairly based on their party affiliations.
He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement about taking strict action against corruption, suggesting that joining the BJP seemed to absolve individuals of any wrongdoing.
Sinha concluded by welcoming RJD Lok Sabha candidate Rohini Acharya’s entry into the political arena, praising her dedication and commitment to public service.
The Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Sanjay Singh in the money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy underscores ongoing tensions between opposition parties and the ruling BJP government.
