Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday, accusing him of leading unsuccessful yatras that resulted in the disintegration of the Congress party. Chouhan’s remarks came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s recent yatra and the Congress’ mega rally in Mumbai.
Chouhan stated that Rahul Gandhi’s yatras, including the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, turned into “Congress Todo, Congress Chodo Yatra,” highlighting instances where the Congress suffered defeats or lost senior leaders during these campaigns. He pointed out that wherever Rahul Gandhi’s yatras passed through, the Congress party faced setbacks.
During a press interaction in Bhopal, Chouhan posed four questions to Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, questioning their decisions and policies. He inquired about their refusal to attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram in Ayodhya and criticized the Congress for not issuing statements in support of women regarding atrocities in West Bengal.
Chouhan also criticized the Congress for making objectionable statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that such behavior is not in line with Indian culture. He highlighted the trend of Congress leaders leaving the party, indicating a lack of leadership within the Congress ranks.
Additionally, Chouhan questioned why Sonia Gandhi, the supreme leader of the Congress party, did not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and called for accountability from the party regarding this decision.
The BJP leader’s comments reflect the ongoing political tensions and exchanges between the BJP and Congress ahead of the upcoming elections, highlighting the competitive landscape in Indian politics.
