In a disturbing incident, a five-month-pregnant woman was seen wiping her deceased husband’s blood from a hospital bed following his tragic death due to gunshot injuries in Madhya Pradesh. The scene, captured in a video that quickly circulated online, has led to public outrage and raised questions about the treatment of grieving families in medical facilities. However, hospital officials insist the woman acted voluntarily, seeking to preserve evidence.
The incident took place in Lalpur village in Dindori district, where a violent altercation over a longstanding land dispute left four men, a father and his three sons, with gunshot wounds. The father and one son died at the scene, while the other two, Shivraj and Ramraj, were taken to the Gadasarai Health Centre for urgent care. Shivraj later succumbed to his injuries.
The video shows Shivraj’s pregnant wife, Roshni, using a cloth to wipe the blood from the hospital bed. According to Dr. Chandrashekhar Tekam of the Gadasarai Health Centre, the staff was present at the time, and Roshni was not instructed to clean the bed. Dr. Tekam stated, “The woman requested to keep the blood-stained cloth as evidence to show the extent of her husband’s injuries. She was not asked to clean the bed, and we have not received any formal complaints from her or her family.”
Despite the clarification, the footage has fueled public outrage, with many questioning the dignity and support provided to grieving families in critical situations.
Following the incident, the Gadasarai police have registered a case against seven individuals allegedly involved in the shooting, with charges including murder. Several of the suspects have already been detained as investigations continue.
This incident highlights the severe impact of land disputes in rural areas and the need for appropriate support mechanisms in hospitals for families facing sudden, traumatic losses.
