Unidentified attackers opened fire at the residence of Robertson Asem, Director of Manipur Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution (CAF and PD), on Wednesday night. The incident, which took place around 10:30 PM under the jurisdiction of Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West, left no one injured.
Robertson Asem told Hindustan Times on Thursday morning that he has no known enmity or received any warnings from individuals or organizations. “I am still confused why the attack was done and who is doing the attack,” he stated.
Police revealed that CCTV footage captured two individuals approaching from the east side of Pishum Ningom Leirak and firing 4 to 5 rounds at Asem’s residence. The attackers quickly fled the scene after the shooting.
A white Alto car parked outside the residence was hit by 4-5 bullets, sustaining significant damage, according to the police. A case has been registered at Singjamei Police Station, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
