Sitharaman Unveils Electronic Data Interchange Facility for Customs in Northeast States

The North-Eastern Region’s Land Customs Stations hosted a virtual opening of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) facility on Thursday, which was intended to improve business ease and facilitate trade between the regions from New Delhi. The event was attended by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. She oversaw the transfer of antiquities that Customs had seized to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as well. An official statement states that 101 antiquity artifacts in all were given to the ASI at seven different locations in the nation: Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Guwahati, Mumbai, and Pune.

In front of Sitharaman, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs performed a ceremony during which the items were turned over. “What you’ve done so far today is exercise caution in preventing their disappearance. Even if it means that ASI and you will be contacted at the last minute to confirm the accuracy of the information being taken away. The Finance Minister told attendees, “These are not instantaneously recognized efforts, but each time you make the effort, you are contributing to this nation’s rich history by ensuring they are not hollowed out.” “In order for us to appreciate and value them, they must reside in this nation. Thus, keep your eyes peeled,” she continued.
