Six Injured In Lucknow Fire Caused By Gas Leak

On Friday evening, a fire caused by a gas leak at an illegal gas-filling centre in Murdapur village, under the jurisdiction of Dubagga police station, resulted in six injuries, including two minors. The fire triggered a major scare in the area, with locals reporting hearing a loud explosion, which led to widespread panic.

“Police and fire department personnel quickly responded to the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital,” said DCP West Omveer Singh. The victims were later referred to the KGMU Trauma Center for further medical attention. DCP Singh confirmed that the incident was not a cylinder explosion, but a fire caused by a gas leak. He also mentioned that one of the injured is in critical condition, with authorities working to provide immediate care.

Explosion and Panic Among Locals

Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud explosion, followed by intense flames. The blast caused extensive damage to the building housing the gas-filling centre and sparked fear among residents, who rushed out of their homes in a bid to escape the potential danger. The fire, which started at the gas centre, rapidly spread to the surrounding areas, leaving several people injured.

Claims of Unauthorised Gas Operations

The local residents have alleged that the gas cutting and refilling operation at the centre had been going on for about a month. They reported seeing suspicious activities, which they believe were related to the illegal nature of the operation. However, DCP Singh provided clarification, stating that the facility had been moved to this site only a few days ago. He assured the public that investigations were underway to determine the exact cause of the incident and to assess whether proper safety protocols were followed.

The authorities are now focusing on the possible involvement of illegal gas operations and the risks posed by such activities in densely populated areas. This incident has raised serious concerns about safety standards and the regulation of gas-filling centres, especially when operating without proper authorization.
