During an election campaign in support of central Chennai BJP candidate Vinoj P Selvam at the YMCA auditorium in Chennai, Union Minister Smriti Irani delivered a stinging rebuke to Rahul Gandhi, emphasizing that while many have come and gone, “Hindustan is, was, and will remain.”
Addressing the gathering, Irani underscored the significance of the completion of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, highlighting the challenges faced in its construction. She pointed out instances in states like West Bengal and Kerala where opposition to the chant of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ led to violence. However, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness the fulfillment of the temple’s construction, attributing it to the glory of Lord Ram.
“Their arrogance was evident as they even rejected the leadership of Ram,” she added, referring to the opposition’s stance on the temple’s construction.
Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also criticized the Congress, highlighting their opposition to the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Temple. He questioned the party’s actions, including the expulsion of a member for six years for attending the event, and emphasized the significance of the temple’s construction.
As Tamil Nadu gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 19, political fervor is on the rise. The state witnessed a landslide victory for the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance in the 2019 general elections, with the Congress securing eight out of the nine seats it contested. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), won only one seat.
With polling set to occur in seven phases across the country from April 19 to June 1, and the counting of votes scheduled for June 4, the political landscape is poised for significant shifts.
