Sonia Gandhi And Mallikarjun Kharge To Lead Significant Rally In Jaipur Today For Congress Manifesto ‘Nyay Patra’

The Congress party is set to hold a public rally in Jaipur on Saturday, April 6, following the release of its manifesto for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The rally, to be attended by top Congress leaders including party president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Sonia Gandhi, aims to publicly launch the party’s election manifesto named ‘Nyay Patra’.

The public rally comes just a day after the Congress unveiled its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, outlining several key promises and commitments. Among the highlights of the manifesto are plans to provide a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), and to pass a constitutional amendment aimed at raising the 50 per cent cap on reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

The manifesto, which focuses on five “pillars of justice” and contains 25 guarantees under them, was released at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in the presence of Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and former party chief Rahul Gandhi.

Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming rally, stating to reporters on Friday, “Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will hold a big public meeting tomorrow in Jaipur and will tell the people about the manifesto. There is a great enthusiasm among the workers for tomorrow’s meeting.”

The public meeting is scheduled to take place at Jaipur’s Vidhyadhar Nagar stadium, as reported.

Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot took to social media platform ‘X’ to announce the rally, stating, “Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge are arriving in Jaipur tomorrow to launch the Congress manifesto ‘Nyaya Patra’ that guarantees justice.”

He further urged all Congress workers to attend the event at Vidyadharnagar ground in Jaipur on April 6 at 11 am to ensure the success of the program.

Key Points from Congress Manifesto ‘Nyay Patra’:

1. Promise to fill nearly 30 lakh vacancies in sanctioned posts at various levels in the central government.
2. Pledge to implement a 10 per cent quota in jobs and educational institutions for economically weaker sections (EWS) from all castes and communities without discrimination.
3. Adoption of the Rajasthan model of cashless insurance, providing up to ₹25 lakh for universal healthcare.
4. Commitment to pass a constitutional amendment aimed at raising the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs if the party comes to power.
5. Plan to conduct a nationwide socio-economic and caste census.
6. Immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
7. Abolition of the Agnipath programme and a directive for the armed forces to resume normal recruitment to achieve full sanctioned strength.

The Congress party’s manifesto ‘Nyay Patra’ aims to address key issues and provide a roadmap for their vision if they are elected to power in the upcoming general elections starting April 19.
