Recently, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Supriya Sule has alleged, that she’s being blackmailed after hackers, who had gained access to her WhatsApp account, demanded $400 from her team via a message.
Taking to X, she said ‘Urgent: My phone and WhatsApp have been hacked. Please do not call or text me. I have reached out to the police for help.’
Further, she also added, that her party general secretary Aditi Nalawade’s WhatsApp account also got hacked. They also demanded ₹10,000 from Nalawade.
Moreover, the hackers also provided their bank details for transferring the money.

Afterward, Sule lodged a complaint at Yavat police station and discussed the matter with Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, who assured her that a thorough investigation would be carried out.

Meanwhile recounting the incident, she said ‘I was in Daund when I received a WhatsApp message from this person. After reading the message, I found that my WhatsApp was not working. I asked Jayant Patil, who was sitting next to me, to send me a message on WhatsApp. I did not receive the message from him, but he got a reply. It meant someone else was using my WhatsApp. I turned off my mobile phone.’

Later, Baramati MP asked people to exercise caution and adopt additional security measures for their phones and WhatsApp accounts. Then she said ‘The incident needs to be taken seriously by the government, the service providers and us as well. We all need a firewall as privacy is our choice.’
