Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is gearing up to launch the “Indiramma” housing scheme on March 11, instructing officials to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place for the program aimed at assisting the underprivileged in the state, as stated in a press release from the Chief Minister’s office.
Stressing the significance of the housing scheme as part of the government’s commitment to its six guarantees, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized its status as a flagship program.
In preparation for the scheme’s rollout, CM Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narendra Reddy, conducted a review meeting to establish guidelines for its implementation. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, R&B Secretary Srinivasa Raju, and other officials were also present during the discussion.
The Chief Minister urged officials to ensure that the benefits of the housing scheme are extended to all eligible individuals without homes, emphasizing the need to finalize guidelines accordingly.
Highlighting the importance of prioritizing applicants from the Praja Palana, CM Revanth Reddy cautioned against repeating past mistakes in the construction of double-bed room houses, stressing the importance of ensuring that only genuine beneficiaries receive assistance.
During the meeting, a tentative decision was made to allocate 3500 houses to each constituency, with the CM expressing optimism that the initiative would gradually realize the dream of home ownership for the homeless.
Under the Indiramma housing scheme, the government will offer Rs 5 lakh financial aid to construct houses for those who already possess residential plots, while providing land and Rs 5 lakh in financial assistance to those without plots. The Chief Minister instructed officials to establish rules and guidelines for phased fund disbursement.
CM Revanth underscored the need for strict measures to prevent the misuse of funds by beneficiaries, while also suggesting the availability of various house models and designs for those constructing homes on their plots, with a kitchen and toilet being mandatory components.
Furthermore, the CM proposed delegating the responsibility of monitoring house construction to engineering wings within various departments, overseen by district collectors, to ensure effective implementation.
