Telangana: 160 Tourists stranded at Mutyamdhara Waterfall Rescued

As many as 160 tourists were trying to cross an overflowing stream to get to a waterfall in Telangana’s Mulugu district were successfully rescued early on Thursday by members of the NDRF and other rescuers. The visitors were rescued at the Mutyamdhara waterfall in Mulugu district on Wednesday because they couldn’t exit the jungle due to a stream being in spate.

Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavati Rathod, and V Srinivas Goud, state ministers for panchayat raj, women’s issues, and children’s welfare, all met with the authorities about how to save the visitors safely after learning about the situation.

Late on Wednesday, personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police, the forest department, and other agencies arrived at the scene. According to a statement from the office of the tourism minister, over 160 visitors were safely evacuated and transported to the hamlet of Venkatapuram, which serves as the mandal headquarters, at approximately 4 AM on Thursday. Meanwhile, Telangana continued to experience torrential downpours that flooded low-lying districts.

Meanwhile, the Konkan, Goa, and Ghat regions of Maharashtra, Telangana, Vidarbha coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam are expected to see isolated heavy rainfall on Thursday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Meanwhile, isolated heavy rains are expected in Punjab, Odisha, West Bengal (sub-Himalaya), and Sikkim. According to a news statement from the meteorology service, a “well-marked low-pressure conditions prevail area” exists over south Odisha, bordering Andhra Pradesh and the surrounding areas.
