The natuional political parties, BJP and the Congress are in the word fight over the word “Shakti” after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in his rally in Maharashtra raised concerns over the EVMs.
BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad has challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding his “Shakti” remark made during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’s concluding speech in Mumbai. Prasad stated that Rahul Gandhi has not made any efforts to correct his statements despite criticism.
Prasad expressed, “Rahul Gandhi insulted Hindu culture recently, and we expected him to acknowledge his mistake. However, even after a day, there has been no attempt to rectify his statement. His party’s spokespersons have been trying to justify his remark instead. The Congress party under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership has departed from the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and is now guided by divisive, Maoist, and anti-Hindu ideologies.”
He further challenged Rahul Gandhi, asking if he would use similar derogatory terms for the core beliefs of other religions or deities.
How it started?
“In Hinduism, there is a concept of ‘Shakti’ or might. We are confronting the might of the state. The question arises: what does this ‘Shakti’ entail for us? The integrity of EVMs has been compromised, handed over to the leader (Modi). This is a reality. Not just EVMs, but every independent institution in the country, including the ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department, has relinquished its autonomy to the central government,” he stated during an event in Mumbai.

The BJP alleged on Monday that this statement was derogatory towards Hinduism and reflected Rahul Gandhi’s sexist mindset.

Later that day, Gandhi argued that PM Modi distorted the meaning of his words. “Modi ji dislikes my statements; he always distorts their meaning because he knows that I am speaking a profound truth. The power I referred to, the power we are opposing, is the facade of that power, Modi ji. It is a power that has seized control of India’s voice, institutions like the CBI, IT department, ED, Election Commission, media, Indian industry, and the entire constitutional framework of India,” he elaborated.
He also clarified that the ‘Shakti’ he mentioned was not related to any religious power.
However, amid the political rival, PM Modi in Tamil Nadu’s Salem said that the INDIA bloc aims to undermine Shakti.
“The election campaign has begun, and the INDI alliance’s agenda was revealed during their first rally in Mumbai. Their manifesto and malicious intentions have become clear. At Shivaji Park in Mumbai, the INDI alliance openly stated their intention to undermine Shakti, which represents faith. Everyone in Tamil Nadu understands the significance of Shakti in Hinduism,” he elaborated.
PM Modi criticized the INDIA bloc for deliberately disrespecting the Hindu faith.
“The INDI alliance refrains from targeting other faiths and does not utter a word against them, but they do not hesitate to denigrate Hinduism,” he emphasized.
