“They have made our nation proud”: Union HM Amit Shah Hails India’s Shooting Trio at Asian Games

Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his congratulations to the Indian shooting trio of Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ashi Chouksey, who achieved a significant milestone by securing a silver medal in the women’s 10m Air Rifle team event at the ongoing 19th Asian Games. This remarkable achievement marked India’s first medal in the competition, and Amit Shah expressed his pride in the shooters for their outstanding performance.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Amit Shah conveyed his congratulations and good wishes to the triumphant trio. He wrote, “Congratulations to our shooter trio Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ashi Chouksey on winning the silver medal in the women’s 10m Air Rifle event at the #AsianGames. They have made our nation proud. My best wishes are with them for future endeavors.”

In the Women’s 10 Metre Air Rifle event, the Indian team accumulated a total score of 1886, with Ramita scoring 631.9, Mehuli 630.8, and Ashi 623.3. Their exceptional performance secured India’s second-place finish in the 10 M Air Rifle Team event, with Mehuli and Ramita also earning individual qualifications for the finals. Ashi concluded her participation in the event with a score of 623.3, securing the 29th position.

Following their silver medal win in the team event, Ramita continued to shine by clinching a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air rifle individual event. Ramita’s remarkable performance earned her third place with a score of 230.1. China’s Han Jiayu secured the silver with 251.3 points, while her compatriot Huang Yuting claimed the gold with 252.7 points, setting a new Games record. Mehuli Ghosh, the other Indian finalist, finished in fourth place in the individual event.
