In a recent address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the substantial progress made in the railway sector under his government’s leadership. He emphasized the prioritization of railway development and unveiled plans for the next five years, aiming to surpass expectations in transforming the railways. PM Modi expressed the government’s commitment to creating a developed and economically competent India through the transformation of the railway network.

During the event, the Prime Minister outlined key initiatives, including a six-fold budget increase since 2014, the development of dedicated freight corridors, and the expansion of Vande Bharat train routes. He underscored the importance of railways in the nation’s development and economic competitiveness, stating that the transformation of the railway is integral to a developed India.

PM Modi also discussed ongoing projects such as the fast-paced laying of railway tracks, the redevelopment of over 1300 railway stations, and the introduction of next-generation trains like Vande Bharat, NaMo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat. He highlighted the modernization efforts, including the unveiling of advanced railway engines and coach factories.

Addressing the historical neglect of the railway sector, PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritize social welfare over political gains. He highlighted the significant increase in the average railway budget, leading to a comprehensive transformation of the railway landscape.

The Prime Minister further elaborated on the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal Policy, simplifying land leasing procedures and ensuring transparency through online processes. He mentioned the establishment of Gati Shakti University and emphasized the modernization initiatives, such as abolishing unmanned crossings and implementing automatic signaling systems.

PM Modi reiterated the focus on 100% electrification of railways, solar-powered stations, and the establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendras at railway stations. He emphasized the creation of a ‘Made in India’ ecosystem in railways, with locomotives and coaches being exported to various countries. The Prime Minister highlighted the positive impact on employment opportunities and assured that the rejuvenation of railways and new investments would drive further economic growth.

In the first 2.5 months of 2024, PM Modi announced the inauguration and foundation laying of projects worth Rs 11 lakh crore, contributing significantly to the dream of a developed India. The event concluded with the dedication of various developmental projects worth over Rs 1,06,000 crores, covering railway infrastructure, connectivity, and petrochemicals. Additionally, the Prime Minister flagged off 10 new Vande Bharat trains, marking another milestone in the government’s ambitious plans for the railway sector.
