According to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, lakhs of farmers from around the nation are on their way to Delhi to participate in the ‘kisan mahapanchayat,’ which will be held at Ramlila Maidan on Monday (SKM).
Last month, the SKM announced that the ‘kisan mahapanchayat’ will be held to advocate for a legislative guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP). The farmers’ association, which spearheaded a year-long campaign against the now-repealed agricultural legislation, has requested the Centre to abolish the MSP committee, claiming that it is antithetical to farmers’ aspirations.
Farmers’ demands also include a pension, debt forgiveness, recompense for those who perished during the strike, and the removal of the Electricity Bill. The union has also reaffirmed its demand for free power for agricultural uses, as well as 300 units for rural homes.
