Nagpur Police found the caller in a big breakthrough in the case of threat calls received at Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s office on Saturday.
According to authorities, the caller was identified as Jayesh Kantha, an imprisoned criminal doing time in Belagavi jail who made threatening calls to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s office from within the jail.
“Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was threatened from behind bars. The caller is Jayesh Kantha, a prominent mobster and murder suspect imprisoned in Karnataka’s Belagavi Prison. He threatened Gadkari’s office by unlawfully using the phone inside the jail ” stated Nagpur Commissioner of Police, who added that a team of Nagpur Police has departed for Belagavi for further investigation.
The accused’s journal, which had been taken, was retrieved by the jail administration.
The accused has been placed under production remand by Nagpur Police.
The Maharashtra office of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari received threat calls on Saturday, according to Nagpur Police.
Following the purported threat calls, the Nagpur Police increased security around Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
According to the police, the office got three calls from a BSNL network-registered number at 11.25 a.m., 11.32 a.m., and 12.32 p.m. at Gadkari’s landline number. It was also said that phone records were being collected.
